Amazon Jungle
5 DAYS
Take a 45-minute flight over the Andes Mountains’
majestic snow-covered peaks to Coca – your gateway to Amazonia. Then travel by
a motorized canoe down Rio Napo to your jungle lodge. From here you will explore
the Ecuadorian rainforest – home to the most prolific and diverse array of
flora and fauna in the world (over 500 species of birds alone have been
registered in the area). A heaven for nature lovers, birdwatchers and adventure
seekers.
Day 1
You
will be picked up from your hotel in Quito and transferred to the airport.
You will take a 45-minute flight over the Andes Mountains’ majestic
snow-covered peaks to Coca – your gateway to Amazonia. Then you will travel by
a motorized canoe down Rio Napo to your jungle lodge. At night you go on a hike around the Paraguaco
Lagoon to observe nocturnal animals.
Day 2
Get
up early. Before breakfast go on a canoe trip to Yuturi Lagoon to observe
aquatic vegetation and birdwatching. After breakfast
you will go on a canoe trip along Manduro River. In the afternoon you
will go piranha fishing. End the day with a night walk to observe caimans.
Day 3
Today
you visit Samona Yuturi Indian community. Go on a hike on Huarmi Yuturi Trail to
observe medicinal plants. In the afternoon you learn about the use of the
blowgun. You also visit the Chorongo Island (Monkeys Island).
Day 4
You
will hike to Canopy Trail to observe bird-life. In the afternoon you will visit
the birdwatching tower. You will also learn about baskets weaving using local
fibers.
Day 5
Early
departure to Coca to take the flight back to Quito. Transfer to you hotel.
